Moon with Glow

Under the Light of the Full Moon (Intermediate)

Next Course Starts May 19, 2019

In this 8-week course, we will build upon the insights gained from the New Moon course, and explore the nature of the Feminine Psyche where you will learn how to work with those aspects of the Feminine which can assist you in transforming your relationship with food. You will learn how to develop emotional literacy and assertive communication so that you can identify and express your emotions directly rather than through eating behaviors, and you will learn how to work with your intuition to get the clarity you need to free yourself from struggles with eating. We will explore what it means to be in the body of a woman so you can shift your relationship with your body, and you will discover a new way of being with yourself, your body, and with others in your life.

The Full Moon Weekly Series, MODULE 2 of the Light of the Moon Café, illuminates the steps to take so you can move with surety towards a life that is YOUR life, one that fulfills you and frees you from eating and weight difficulties, and one in which you can glow with the full essence of who you are as a woman.

cafe-processThe Full Moon lights the way and shows you the path that will take you where you want to go. It shines a bright light on what is essential to have lasting freedom from struggles with food and weight. It is designed to help you identify and develop the skills you need to break free of the struggle and to actually create changes in your relationships with yourself, and others, that will allow you to free yourself from your disordered eating thoughts and behaviors.

It illuminates the emotional, intuitive, and relationship-oriented qualities of the Feminine Psyche — so you can discover how to use them to support you on your journey towards wholeness. At its heart, the Feminine is concerned about relationship and connection. Under the Light of the Full Moon, we explore new ways of relating to food and your body that incorporate an awareness and appreciation of the natural rhythms of the female body, and teach you how to develop the communication skills you need to create relationships (with yourself and others) that are supportive and nourishing.

Here, we bring compassion to all the parts of our feminine nature that have been rejected, dismissed, disregarded, and shamed by our modern culture. You will learn how to claim and develop your emotional, instinctive, and intuitive guidance system (so that it works for you, not against you) and discover how to get the nurture and comfort you have always hungered for — without turning to eating and food.

This is what you can expect:

Week 1. Waves of Emotion:

We begin this series by diving deep into the heart of the matter, into the realm of emotions, and explore the direct connection between our emotions and eating behaviors — and learn a whole new way of relating to our feelings. Here, you can begin to view your feelings as gateways to wisdom and guidance rather than stumbling blocks to avoid or overcome. You will discover how it is “emotional illiteracy” and our attempts to not feel our emotions (rather than the feelings themselves) that contribute to struggles with food and our bodies.

Week 2. Finding Nurture

We introduce you to the concept of the “archetypal mother” that exists within all of us – that part of ourselves that can provide us with just the right amount of compassionate guidance, support, and nurture we need. Without an understanding of this archetypal force, we remain vulnerable to harsh judgments and criticisms from ourselves (or others) that can drive us to seek comfort and solace in food behaviors. In this week, you will learn how to access the powerful nourishment she has to offer — and how to find it elsewhere.

Week 3: Intuition

We explore the nature of “women’s intuition” as a different way of knowing. You will be encouraged and shown how to honor and listen to that quiet, inner voice from within with curiosity (instead of ignoring it or stuffing down those “gut feelings” with food) so you can reclaim your “inner authority.”

Week 4. Feminine Cycles

This week we look at the feminine cycle – from menarche to menopause — and its relationship to food cravings, mood swings, and negative body image. By embracing the most profoundly feminine aspect of our bodies, we can shed many of the feelings of shame and loathing we inherited from a culture that has failed to honor and value it – or teach us how to appreciate and work with our cyclical nature.

Week 5. Feminine Sexuality

In this week we explore our feminine sexuality from a personal, subjective perspective — from the inside out — by focusing on desire rather than desirability. In a culture that has objectified women’s sexuality and defined it in terms of what it “looks like” many of us have had feelings of confusion, fear, rejection, and sadness around our sexuality. Our disconnection from the deepest part of our feminine nature leaves us with a hunger that we don’t quite know what to do with – so we stuff it with food or starve it so it will go away. Here, you will find ways to recognize and reclaim your own true sensual, sexual nature — and free yourself from society’s messages and early experiences where it was not honored.

Week 6. Relationships: Honoring Self & Others

Here, we address the delicate balance between being in relationships with others and being true to ourselves. Tending to the needs of others without acknowledging our own needs leads to a profound state of deprivation — which can be experienced as an ever-present hunger that nags at us constantly. In this week we explore how to be attentive and respectful of others without losing your voice, your authenticity, or sacrificing your sense of who you are and what you value.

Week 7. Assertiveness: Speaking your truth

We continue to explore the world of relationships and very practical ways to find our voice and speak the truth – in the kindest way possible. In this week you will learn the number one, absolutely essential skill for complete, lasting recovery from disordered eating: assertive communication. It is the means with which we embrace the essence of who we really are and set clear limits, without being hurtful to others or ourselves. It eliminates the constant anxiety (which we try to fend off with eating behaviors) that comes from acting one way when we are feeling another… and puts us on the path of heart, one which leads us towards people and situations that nourish us, and steers us away from those that do not.

Week 8. Embodying the Feminine

We explore what it means to be the embodiment of the feminine and how that gets played out in different phases of our lives. In this week we look at how women of all ages can access the many facets of the feminine principle in order to heal from disordered eating and negative body image
